Luke 15:24

A close-up of a dark-skinned hand with glossy black nail polish holding the top right corner of a rectangular family portrait. The portrait, set against a warm brown studio background, features a smiling Black family of four: an adult man in a suit, an adult woman with voluminous dark hair and a white blouse, a young girl in a purple top with beaded braids, and a young boy in a red and white plaid shirt.

This project explores spiritual drift and return through the lens of migration and identity. Growing up in a religious Nigerian household, faith shaped my early understanding of self and belonging. As I moved here alone, I experienced a huge shift from that foundation I grew up in. Through staged portraits and portraits taken in the church, this work reflects separation, emptiness, longing and healing

About The Artist

A young Black woman with dark skin, long dark hair, glasses, and braces smiles while posing indoors. She wears a white shirt, a blue and brown striped tie, gold chain necklaces including a cross, and a tan zippered jacket with 'Swaavy' embroidered on the left chest. A rosary-style chain with a gold cross hangs from her dark pants. Her left hand with long gold nails rests on a white speckled counter, while her right hand is raised near her chin. Light wood-paneled walls and an electrical outlet are in the background, with another person partially visible on the right.

Hi, I’m Eden, a Toronto-based photographer working across
portrait, editorial, and documentary photography. My work centers
on capturing atmosphere, presence, and narrative through
intentional composition and lighting. I’m particularly interested in
how environment and light influence the way identity is perceived
within an image. Whether working in the studio or on location, I aim
to create photographs that feel both expressive and grounded in
context.
