Between the Highlights is about how today we live in a world where we are surrounded by social media feeds, where we are all viewers to everyone's personal highlight reels, and life is increasingly experienced as something to be shown. We are accustomed to seeing everyone's ‘greatest’ moments and adventures put on display, measuring our lives by amazing vacations, or fabulous jobs, images of luxury and highest highs on the grand scale of life. This series is a documentary project exploring moments of the everyday, moments of connection and moments of togetherness, that can make up some of the most memorable times. The series asks the viewer to take a moment, to observe what might otherwise be dismissed moments, and to reconsider their weight.

    About The Artist

    Courtney Turvill

    Courtney Turvill, is a photographer from Orangeville, Ontario. She is drawn to documentary based photography through which she draws from her surroundings to capture candid moments. She has always had a passion for storytelling, having a background in dance she is able to bring her strong understanding of timing, movement and intimate emotional moments to allow her to capture moments as they unfold in ways that feel both natural and visually balanced.
