Trapped and Out of View

Mikayla Di Iorio

Trapped and Out of View, explores the feeling of being stuck within the circumstances of one’s mental health and the invisible impacts that take place beyond the surface. Each triptych highlights a different category of strain across the body, mind and emotions— not to glamorize mental health struggles, but to embody what it feels like to be trapped in an ongoing cycle that is often overlooked, simply because it isn’t always visible.

The first triptych focuses on the psychological strain, visualizing the internal battles and intrusive thoughts that cannot be seen from the outside. The second depicts physical strain — the tasks that need to be done but cannot be completed under the weight of exhaustion. The third captures emotional strain: the numbness and vulnerability of losing yourself to mental health.
