Emotional Landscapes uses thermal imaging technology to capture infrared radiation emitted by the human body. Warmer areas emit more infrared radiation, while cooler areas emit less. These portraits invite the viewer to look beyond the typical markers of identity to reconsider their perceptions of the human form and its relationship to the world around it. Instead of revealing the figure, vibrant colour fields illustrate the heat, inflammation, tension and energy that can be felt but are invisible to the human eye. The breath becomes visible, and gestures become psychedelic expressions of life, revealing the body’s thermal signature.
