Trapping in Reality
This project is to show the relationship between the photographer and Ancient Chinese Women Culture. Having two different identities, Canadian and Chinese in one body is confusing and this project is a way of finding myself back by researching and trying my best to experience and understand the things they experienced before as Ancient Chinese women. See and feel through recreating and re-experience the rules they set for Ancient Chinese women. Seeing myself compared with the women beside me, so alike but at the same time, thousands of years apart from each other. It is sad to think, just because of the time difference made so many differences that I got the chance to see the world, and they had been locked up in that world with nowhere to escape.
Hello! My name is Laura Gao. I’m a student from Toronto Metropolitan University studying Photography as my Major. I mostly like to shoot landscapes and portraits. I love doing double exposures as well, creating a dream-like world. It is like opening up a new world view that people have never thought about. I can so still-life photography as well.
