We often take and look at portraits of people, but what if there was something else there, a clue that allowed one to find out more about that person? With this project, I wanted to take portraits and incorporate places that they felt either represents them or is important to them. Creating portraits that show not just their physical appearance, I wanted to explore this idea of a person’s character/identity through place, to help represent each individual. I wanted to show something else about who this person may be, and give a different perspective to what otherwise would be a simple portrait. There is a story to find within each image because each person is more than what is presented on the outside. Each is a person with a life outside of this photo, incorporating parts of them they felt important.
